PALM OIL WEEKLY PRICES ON      13th - 19th Aug 2014 3rd Week

Prices in the domestic market traded lower.
CPO prices traded lower this week by RM142.00 to RM2,143.50 against RM2,285.50 attained the previous week. The highest and lowest traded prices were at RM2,220.00 and RM2,055.00 respectively. RBD palm olein traded lower at US$701.00. Palm oil prices traded lower mainly due to:
  • Influenced by projections of bigger-than-expected supplies of soyabean. (USDA’s soyabean stock estimates for the US was pegged at 430 million bushels, surpassing market expectations of 414 million bushels).
  • Continued losses in overseas soyabean markets, coupled with the expected surge in South-East Asian palm oil output.
  • Pressure from a surge in the Ringgit against the US Dollar as well as concerns over the food versus fuel demand.
Crude palm oil exports duty (after partial duty exemption) for the month of  August, 2014.
  • With effect from 01/08/2014 – 31/08/2014, the CPO export duty payable is RM121.48/tonne.
Palm oil prices in Europe traded lower.
  • Crude palm oil price traded lower by US$42.00 to US750.00. CPO discount vis-à-vis SBO widened to US$110.50 this week.
• RBD palm olein price traded lower by US$26.50 to US$759.00 and was at a discount of US$101.50 against SBO.
